Wax Processing

With pricking becoming a more common practise as opposed to uncapping, beeswax is becoming harder to obtain and it makes sense to fully utilise your own resources.
We can assist you with the following quality designed, fully tested and guaranteed products manufactured by Thomas Apiculture in France:
  • The Spin Dryer for your cappings extracts the maximum amount of honey without breaking the beeswax into micro-pieces thus saving on extra filtration.  It holds up to 10kg of cappings.
  • The 82L capacity Wax Melting Tank renders down and purifies your beeswax.  It has an even temperature heat rate due to the circular design.  A full load is melted in 20 minutes.

We also have great solutions for small commercial and hobbyists:

Our useful little stove-top Bain-Maries are great for hobbyists as well as an aid to melting extra beeswax for your sprayer.
  • They come in two sizes:  1.5 and 2.5L.
  • useful for melting chocolate, making custards and lemon honey etc.
  • These models are suitable for using on an induction hob.
The 35L Digital control Wax Melter from Australia is a very popular model.  We can also supply 15 and 25L models - request a quote from us.  This melter is usually available within a couple of weeks of ordering.

  • 82L Wax melting tank

Wax melting tank from Thomas Apiculture
This melting tank is designed to render bits of comb or complete combs without having to remove the wires
The round style wax melter is more efficient than the square type because the circular design ensures an even temperature throughout and can melt a full load in approx. 20 minutes.
The tank is composed of an outer flat bottomed tank and an internal tank with an inverted conical bottom which forms a small reservoir. Wax is heated up by the bottom and circumference of the tank as a result of the boiling water jacket. Heat is from a gas burner (not supplied). There is a removable stainless steel basket to collect the debris.
Has a reinforced conical lid with a safety ball valve to prevent over pressurizing and a thick silicone gasket to make it fully watertight.
The wax is rendered down by the rising steam, becomes purified and flows out perfectly clean ready to be set in moulds.
    Dimensions are 530 dia x 760 high.  Capacity – 82 litres

This product has a 6-8 week delivery time.  POA.

  • Cappings spin dryer

Spin dryers are the preferred alternative to the cappings screw press.

Cappings are the only product not to go through the normal extraction process so using a Cappings Spin Dryer will ensure you extract the maximum amount of honey possible from your cappings: 100kg of extracted honey should only leave 2 kg of dry cappings.  Very easy to use, you simply put it next to your uncapping tank or machine, open the lid and tip the honey loaded cappings into the basket, shut the lid, turn it on (the machine self-stabilises) and turn it off when the honey flow stops.

After a day of extraction, the honey house is clean and the wax is available to melt down later.

With the spin dryer the wax is not broken up into micro pieces saving you from needing extra filtration.
This model is the ideal machine for enterprises of up to 100 hives.  It can take up to 10 kg of cappings.

Please Note:  Larger models are available.
