What tasks do I need to do to ensure hive health?
November in the hive
Everything is bursting with activity. The queen is reaching her greatest peak of egg-laying and nectar and pollen is coming in thick and fast.
Beekeeper Tasks
- Add queen excluder and place honey supers on top of the brood boxes.
- Watch out for swarms – inspect hives weekly for swarm control.
- Remove September varroa treatments and check they have worked.
- Feed sugar syrup if necessary and check for pollen stores – feed supplements if necessary.
- Check for AFB in brood frames.
