  • Hive Base Board

    $26.09$33.05

Hive World supplies a Kitset Hive Base which comes with tanalised runners.  This sturdy New Zealand made product provides a firm base for your hive supers.  Easy to put together and provides an untreated natural habitat for your bees home to rest on.

Every home needs a good foundation to build on!

All you need to supply is the nails.

  • Hive Mat

    $11.74

Our Hive mat kitset includes kiln dried rims with a tempered hardboard sheet for a durable product to use in your hive.

The hive mat is used as an insulator and to prevent your hive lid from being stuck down by over-active propolizing bees.  You can sit your top feeder on it and make a small hole for the bees to enter the feeder.  This works particularly well with the Hive World Top Feeder as it has its own lid to keep the bees insulated from the weather.

The 40mm rim hive mat can be used as an escape board.  Firstly,  make a hole in the mat then screw a bee escape (either an 8-way or porter style) on top.   Place it underneath the supers you are wanting to harvest.  The deeper rim allows for the addition of the bee escape:  this means it will fit comfortably between the hive boxes.

We also supply a nuc hive mat to fit your nuc boxes.  Check your options below:

  • HiveGate

    $20.00

HiveGate is an investment in the health of your hive.  This entrance adaptor enables your colonies to maintain a healthy environment and cope with intruders such as wasps even in cold weather or when the colony is not up to full strength.

Helps promote strong, productive colonies with fewer losses as the bees spend less energy defending the hive and controlling the environment.

  • Queen Excluder

    $4.00$75.00

  • Stainless steel varroa mesh

    $10.00

Hive World supplies stainless steel varroa mesh cut to size to fit your hive base.

    Measurement:  330mm x 370mm.

    8  (2.5mm) mesh size

Varroa mesh assists your varroa elimination by allowing varroa removed by bees self-grooming to fall through but preventing them from climbing back into the hive.  Allows you to check the varroa fall regularly and ensure your current treatment is having the optimal effect.

  • Flexible Propolis Mat

    $8.10

Hive World’s high quality flexible Propolis Mat won’t crack when harvesting propolis.

This is a great way of adding income to your hive.  Simply replace your inner cover (hive mat) with the propolis mat in your hive and raise the lid slightly to allow light in.   This encourages the bees to make more propolis to cover the hole.  When the mat is full, freeze in a large plastic rubbish bag.  When chilled you can easily twist the mat and loosen the propolis.

N.B:  Autumn is the typical peak propolis production time.

  • Entrance Reducer/Mouse Guard Metal

    $3.40

Hive World’s Entrance Reducer/Mouse Guard is made from zinc plated steel.  Beehive Entrance Reducers are used especially in the autumn and winter when the bee traffic slows down and other wildlife is looking for an easy food source and warm place to settle.

The reducer slots into two metal holders each side of the hive entrance to keep it in place. It helps to protect the hive from robbing by narrowing the entrance and giving the bees a better chance to defend their hive.  It also helps prevent wasps and mice entering.

When you are moving your hives, you can turn the reducer over and it safely locks the bees in, yet still provides adequate ventilation.
